Tip: on a phone, tap the button, then share the PDF straight into a text to your customer.
A work order is the agreed job written down: what you're doing, where, when and for how much. It sits between the approved quote and the invoice. You bring it to the job, the customer signs it when the work is finished, and you bill from it.

In PlainJob, an approved quote becomes the job, the calendar entry and the invoice, with the same line items all the way through. $39 a month for up to 3 people.

A work order describes the job before or while you do it. An invoice asks to be paid once it's done. Many handymen have the customer sign the work order, then send the invoice from it.
It isn't required, but a signature when the work is done is the simplest proof that the customer saw the finished job and agreed it was complete.
